Waseso said the decision to dismiss him is up to President Joko Widodo.
Thousands of netizens signed a petition at change.org calling for the President to sack the Head of Criminal Investigations Police Commisioner General Budi Waseso. Petitioners said Waseso is weakening the anti-corruption movement.
The petition was initiated by Dahnil Anzar Simanjutak and Ray Rangkuti on July 15, 2015. In less than 24 hours after it was launched more than 3,500 people signed the petition. Currently the petition has been signed by more than 16,000 people.
