Administrative Court Grant Lawsuit, Unfreeze PSSI

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- The State Administrative Court (PTUN) of Jakarta granted the lawsuit of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) against Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). According to judge Ujang Abdullah, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Decree to freeze PSSI is not valid.

Ujang explains, the court rejected all defense filed by the Kemenpora as a defendant. According to him, the issuance of the ministerial decree violates the principle of professionalism.

Previously, when the interlocutory judgment was read on May 25, Jakarta State Administrative Court in favor of PSSI. The granting of the suit aimed to avoid sanctions from FIFA. However, FIFA still imposed sanctions.

The frenzy between PSSI and the Ministry began when PSSI gave league clearance to Arema Malang and Persebaya Surabaya on April 4. Previously, the two clubs have failed verification from the Indonesian Professional Sports Agency (BOPI). As a result, Minister Imam Nahrawi banned PSSI, causing sanction from FIFA.

The freezing led to sanctions are given by the parent of world football, FIFA, the PSSI. Feeling aggrieved, then sued PSSI Kemenpora through the courts.
