TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prohibits North Sumatra Governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho and lawyer Otto Cornelis Kaligis also known as OC Kaligis from traveling abroad. The imposition of the status became effective on Monday, July 13, 2015. "There are six people were prevented (from travelling), including the two names," said KPK Deputy Chairman Indriyanto Seno Adji said through short text messages, on Monday.

In addition to Gatot and OC Kaligis, the others were prevented, according Indriyanto, is Evy. "He is the wife of the North Sumatra Governor,” he said. Indriyanto claimed not to recall the identity of the other three prevented. “In all, there were six, I can’t remember the three.”

Gatot and OC Kaligis was called by KPK on Monday. However, until 12:30 pm, both were not seen at the KPK building. They are planned to be checked as witnesses on the alleged bribery of the Medan Administrative Court Judge, North Sumatra.

The case is being investigated by the KPK after the commission’s team arrested five people in Medan on July 9. The five people are M. Yagari Bhastara Guntur aka Gerry, a staff of OC Kaligis; Tripeni irianto Putro, Head of the Medan Administrative Court; Syamsir Yusfan, a secretary clerk at the Medan Administrative Court; and two Medan Administrative Court judges named Amir Fauzi and Dermawan Ginting.

KPK deputy chairman Zulkarnain said the case stems from the investigation of the North Sumatra High Court over alleged corruption of social grants the Provincial Government of North Sumatra. High Court sniffed their misuse of social assistance in the 2012-2013 budget.

The case was then taken over the Attorney General in September 2013. Financial Bureau Chief of North Sumatra Ahmad Fuad Lubis has been questioned by the Attorney General. However, the North Sumatra High Court called him again in the investigation of the same case. As a result, Fuad sued the administrative court for the summons on the investigation because he felt the case was handled by the Attorney General.

In the trial verdict on July 7, the panel of judges, consisting of Tripeni Irianto Putro, Amir, and Dermawan Ginting, partially granted the Fuad’s petition. In the verdict, the judges stated that prosecutors abuse their authority in calling Fuad Lubis to be examined. In the case, Fuad pointed OC Kaligis, Rico Pandeirot, Yulius Irwansyah, Anis Rifai, Andika Yoedistira, and Yagari aka Gerry as his legal counsel.

KPK still probes whether the bribe money from Gerry was intended for the Medan Administrative Court judges led by Tripeni to grant Fuad’s motion.
