8 July 2015 08:26 WIB

TEMPO/Arnold Simanjuntak

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry welcomed PT Sanyo Jaya Component Indonesia that plans to make Indonesia as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) production base.

“Basically we support them, and this is news where they focus and concentrate that in this Asian region, we become the production base,” Director of Electronics and Telematics Industry Ministry of Industry Warsito said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Warsito say the reason Sanyo wants to develop ICT in Indonesia is because ICT development in Indonesia is extremely good.

According to Warsito, 100 percent of ICT production will be exported to some countries like China, Japan, U.S., and Europe.

However, although Sanyo company is located in bonded zones of export-oriented, the company is allowed to sell its products in the country for a maximum of 10 percent of the total production.

Then, Warsito said, Sanyo also offers cooperation development in the automotive sector, where the company will manufacture electronic parts of an automotive product.

“Therefore, Industri Minister Saleh Husin will monitor the development by visiting the factory at a later time.  The minister responded positively to the plan,” said Warsito.

Sanyo will increase the production capacity of ICT in its factory located in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java, from the initial capacity of 70 million to 120 million pieces per month.

With an investment of US$5 million, the plan to increase production capacity will begin in September 2015.
