TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The new Chief of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Sutiyoso, expressed his commitment to improve the quality and performance of the agency by applying a new intelligence system, which will include civilians as informants.
"Intelligence work require massive information from various sources. Therefore, BIN will be more transparent," Sutiyoso said at the National Palace on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. "[BIN] will provide the public with opportunities to provide any information, participation, that are relevant to national security," Sutiyoso added.
The national security referred by Sutiyoso includes economics, political, social and cultural affairs. According to Sutiyoso, one of BIN's biggest challenge is to prevent radicalism from the Middle East. Sutiyoso said that BIN will develop a counter-measure to combat radicalism. Sutiyoso also promised to increase the number of BIN personnels.
