TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" TjahajaPurnama requested all citizens relocated to cheap flats to go through a health test. The step was taken to ensure a better quality of life for the tenants.
"The quality of life of Jakarta citizens is of utmost concern." Basuki said in a meeting with the Commission for AIDS prevention on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
Ahok asserted that there has been a surge of easily transmitted diseases in cheap flats. Ahok claimed that he does not want these diseases to spread and become a large problem for local communities. "We will try to identify a contagion early with these health tests," Ahok said.
Ahok added that he is planning to pass more stringent laws towards vaccination and plans to obligate parents to provide their child's vaccination records during the school admission process.
