TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama revealed his plan for the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) that will pass through the capital.
According to Ahok, the LRT will resemble a multi-story building. “We want to build up to two or three stories but specifically for trains,” Ahok said in City Hall on Monday, Jul 6.
Ahok analogizes that building a LRT railway track is similar to building a house. With the same broad, the owner of the house wants to construct it with more than one floor in order to have a greater capacity. “The idea is similar to that,” said Ahok.
According to Ahok, the LRT project is the right momentum to build a multi-story railway track. Because building a multi-story road for cars and motorcycles would be a blunder to worsen congestions. “Motor vehicle sales in Jakarta have reached 2.4 million units per year,” said Ahok.
Ahok insist that train is the most accurate solution to unravel congestions. It has been proven by the city train destination to Bekasi-Jakarta. according to Ahok, the residents of Bekasi have chosen trains as an effective and efficient mode of transportation.
