TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Chief General Moeldoko is reluctant to answer questions pertaining to cabinet reshuffle and minister position offer. Moeldoko only smiled when his name is mentioned as candidate for Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to replace Tedjo Edhy Purdjiatno.
Recently, the rumor on Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla’s cabinet reshuffle is getting stronger. Jokowi summoned his ministers to report on the performances of each ministry. Some observers say that minister Tedjo deserves to be sacked from his position.
“He deserves to be removed as Coordinating Minister of Maritime in order to be consistent with his background,” Indonesia Public Institute senior researcher Karyono Wibowo said in Jakarta yesterday.
A member from the Defense Commission of the House of Representatives, Bachtiar Ali, also praised Moeldoko. According to Ali, Moeldoko is capable of replacing Tedjo. “He is capable of serving all positions, whether Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs or any other,” he said during a meeting with the armed forces.
