Minister Jonan Proposes Single Window System in Ports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan said that the lengthy dwelling time in Tanjung Priok Port could only be solved if the national single window system is applied. Therefore, the flow of incoming and outgoing items will be quicker. "One-roof administration should be applied in port," Jonan said in his office last week.
According to Jonan, there has to be a single entity that has the authority to manage the flow of goods in ports. Jonan explained that parties related to flow of goods and port activities should send one of its representatives to work under the one-roof administration system. "They will receive the same salary and allowance," said Jonan.
Currently, there are 18 ministries and institutions related to port activities in Priok., including Customs, Transportation, Industry, Quarantine and other institutions. Jonan said that harbormaster could be appointed as the National Single Window system administrator.
