Short Circuit Might Have Triggered Terminal 2E Fire, Police Say

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Resort Police Comr. Sr. CH Pattopoi said that the cause of the fire at JW Sky Lounge di Terminal 2E in the Soekarno-Hatta airport was triggered by a short circuit on the oven in the lounge, which also has a restaurant.
"The fire might have come from the oven. However, we are still waiting for the result of the investigation done by the National Police central forensic laboratory (puslabfor),” Pattopoi said at the airport on Sunday (5/7).
Pattopoi also said the alleged cause of the fire was found after the police have finished checking the fire scene.
In the meantime, President Director of state-owned operator PT Angkasa Pura II Budi Karya Sumadi said that around the lounge covers an area of 300 meter, in which 200 meter of the longer was razed by the fire.
For the record, thick black smoke reportedly came from Terminal 2E at the airport on Sunday morning (5/7) and fire was reportedly seen since 6 am on Sunday morning.
