TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thick black smoke seen rising from Terminal 2E of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Sunday, July 5, 2015. The fire reportedly started seen since 06:00 am.
Some netizens reported the fire to the official Twitter account of Traffic Management Center of Polda Metro Jaya police. "There is a fire in Terminal 2F, the smoke grew thicker and traffic towards the top is closed," tweeted @heriedagink account that retweeted by @TMCPoldaMetro, Sunday, July 5th, 2015.
Fire reportedly emerged from the departure terminal, precisely in the space business lounge Terminal 2E. As a result of the fire, Gate 4 terminal was closed and passengers were transferred to Gate 2.
The photos uploaded by the netizens showed that the Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) airport was covered with thick black smoke. The smoke even covered part of the aircraft parking area near the terminal. @NasrulBotak mentioned the source of fire seen at JW Lounge 2E. "The fire continues to expand at JW Lounge 2E," the account tweeted.
Traffic routes to the terminal are closed for handling fires. Soetta's service activities were also stopped. Shinta Wahyuni, a netizen, reported that the check-in area was closed temporarily due to smoke cost.
"Fire in the executive lounge 2E, the 2F check-in counter is closed and being sterilized because the room is full of smoke," said Shinya through a twitter account @shintakiara.
TMC Polda Metro reported that firefighters have arrived in the fire site, the JW Sky Lounge Terminal 2E, at around 7:20 am. Cause of the fire is still unknown.
