TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Democrat Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) reasserted the position of his political party as a `critical partner` of the government.
According to SBY, to be critical is needed in order to become a balance in the government.
"We give our supports to the government but we also have to give them correction and critics if the policies are not correct," SBY said in his opening remarks at the national leadership meeting ahead of the regional head election at Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday (4/7).
On that occasion, SBY also reiterated three stands of his party.
First, all regional leaders nominated by the Democratic Party must be loyal to the president and the government if they are elected; second, the Democratic Party supports the policies implemented by the current government led by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla; and third, the Democratic Party is obliged to give critics and correction if the decisions and policies made by the government are not correct.
"Please note. Give the critics in a correct and measured way,” SBY said.
