TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 194 candidates of Corruption Eradication Commission leaders have passed the first stage of the selection phase. KPK selection team chief Destry Damayanti said the candidates were dominated by legal counsels and advocates.
“There are 46 of them, followed by 31 candidates from private sectors and state owned enterprises,” Destry said at the State Secretariat Ministry on Saturday, July 4, 2015.
Destry added that there were 23 candidates from law enforcers, four from the KPK and 10 auditors. The rest 28 candidates were professors, Destri said.
According to Destry, there are more candidates with master degrees than those who hold bachelor degrees. In terms of gender, there were 23 women who passed the selection.
Destry explained that almost all provinces were represented by the candidates. One of the candidates was from Washington.
“The candidate works for a private company and is actively involved in the anti-corruption movement in the United States,” Destry said.
Destry revealed that the candidates who passed the first-stage selection would undergo a competency test and were required to write a paper about themselves. The paper would be presented on July 8, 2015.
The KPK selection team had planned that it would involve independent readers to assess their papers. Starting from July 4 to August 3, 2015, public will be allowed to provide input about candidates’ track records via an official website capimkpk.setneg.go.id. Candidates who pass the second-stage selection will be announced on July 15, 2015.
