Ministry Summons 13 Airlines, Urges to Increase Capital

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry called on 13 airlines that are experiencing negative equity. The airlines have promised to increase its capital by July 31, 2015, at the latest.
"I have summoned AirAsia and others airlines," said Muhammad Alwi, Director of Traffic and Air Transport at the Transportation Ministry on Thursday, July 2, 2015.
Alwi said that the Transportation Ministry will continue to monitor the airlines' financial performance through submitted reports and with the assistance of public accountant.
The ministry stated that there are 13 airlines that are lacking in capital. The Ministry was concerned that the airlines would not be able to meet flight safety standards if the condition continue to occur.
The 13 airlines include two major airlines, Indonesia AirAsia and Batik Air, a full service airline owned by Lion Group. Other airlines include three cargo airlines (Cardig Air, Asialink Cargo Airline, and Tri-M.G Intra Asia Airlines), two regional airlines (Nusantara Buana Air ad Johnlin Air Transport), four carter airlines (Transwisata Prima Aviation, EastIndo Services, Air Pasifik Utama and Manunggal Air Service), and two unscheduled airlines ( Survai Udara Penas and Ersa Eastern Aviation).
