TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of State Owned Enterprises Rini M. Soemarno is targeting SOEs' assets to reach Rp10,000 trillion by 2019. This, she said, can be done by continuously synergizing state companies.
Currently, the total assets of Indonesia's 117 SOEs stood at Rp4,500 trillion.
"Increasing assets can be done by boosting downstream [industries] and use domestic components more, so that we can self-produce them ourselves in the future," she said during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between PT Pertamina, PT Pelni, and PT Pupuk Indonesia.
She said that Indonesian SOEs have huge potentials that need to be developed further. Through synergy, optimum use of SOEs' assets can be achieved.
Pertamina and Pupuk Indonesia on Wednesday signed an MoU on the Study of a Coal and Gas-based Petrochemical Plant Development at the SOE Ministry building.
Pertamina also signed a commercial MoU with Pelni; in which Pertamina agrees to supply Pelni with ship fuel and oil drilling equipment.
