TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sutiyoso, candidate for the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief said that he would open a large recruitment for his institution as instructed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
"I was given a task to reorganize BIN," Sutiyoso said at the Presidential Palace compound on Thursday, July 02, 2015.
Earlier, the House of Representatives (DPR) approved Sutiyoso as the new BIN chief to replace Marciano Norman. Later, President Jokowi invited Sutiyoso to a meeting to provide him with instructions.
"About 5,000 personnel are needed. Currently there are 1,975 [personnel at BIN]. Therefore, we will recruit 1,000 people from various backgrounds," Sutiyoso said, adding that the recruitment of 1,000 personnel would be accomplished within a year.
Sutiyoso explained that BIN would also improve its technology to keep up with other intelligence agencies in other countries.
