TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maritime and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti revoked licenses of four fishing companies based on results of the second analysis and evaluation issued by the Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing Task Force.
Companies whose fishing business permits were revoked include PT Sino Indonesia Shunlida Fishing, PT S&T Mitra Mina Industri, PT Sumber Laut Utama and PT Maju Bersama Jaya.
In addition to being involved in illegal fishing, the four companies allegedly committed criminal acts related to fisheries, including human trafficking, smuggling and document forgery. Some of the companies even claimed to have repeatedly violated the law on fisheries.
Earlier in the first analysis and evaluation, Susi revoked business permits of eight companies. In addition, a total of 82 ships owned by 12 companies had been suspended from being operational.
Susi also had issued a recommendation to revoke business permits of 49 companies for allegedly committed violations based on the results of analysis and evaluation issued by the anti-illegal fishing team.
