TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Chief of the Indonesian National Football Organization (PSSI), Djohar Arifin, has resigned from his position as the member of the PSSI Honorary Board. Djohar claimed that his decision was due to the fact that the Sports and Youth Minister refused to acknowledge PSSI under the leadership of La Nyala Mattalitti.
Djohar said that with the lack of acknowledgment, he has little chance to mediate the ongoing conflict between the Youth and Sports Ministry and PSSI. "I have very little chances. It's a waste of time," Djohar told Tempo.
Previously, the House of Representatives has asked Sports and Youth Minister Imam Nahrawi to meet and discuss the conflict with PSSI. However, Minister Imam prefers to meet with Djohar instead of La Nyalla, who he claimed to have no authority because La Nyalla was appointed after the PSSI was frozen by FIFA.
Djohar decided refused to attend the meeting, causing PSSI to consider him unethical. PSSI even threatened to file a lawsuit against Djohar in relation to his refusal.
