TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM) discovered a number of food and beverages containing hazardous substances during an impromptu inspection at the Ramadan Fair event held in North Jakarta Mayor's office.
The agency also unveiled similar discovery in a People's Market event held in Pademangan Subdistrict Office, North Jakarta.
Head of BPOM Dewi Prawitasari, confirmed that the agency has found harmful foods in the two locations. "[The foods] contain formaldehyde, sodium borate, and rhodamine B," Dewi said.
Dewi explained that at the Ramadhan Fair event the BPOM conducted tests on 34 food samples. Including pickles,and meatballs. The results revealed that the samples contained hazardous substances.
