TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of Jakarta Metro Police, Inspector General Tito Karnavian, said that the Police are monitoring an organization suspected to be affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Jakarta. "We have taken necessary measures," Tito said on Monday, June 29, 2015.
Tito said that he has instructed all precinct chiefs to monitor and prevent the radical movement. However, Tito refused to reveal the name of the organization and stated that it has spread in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and Banten.
"I do not want to name any organization,” Tito said. "We surely have put them under our radar."
Previously, a fatwa that asks Moslems to commit jihad in Ramadan was circulated on the internet. Tito claimed that the incident was the work of an ISIS spokesman, Abu Muhammad Al Adnani.
