TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Food Sustainability Agency of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) confirmed that the available food stocks in the region can only last for the next two months. The condition was nowhere near the initial prediction made by the National Logistics Agency (Bulog) that said that there is enough supply of rice for the next six months.
"Food stocks in NTT is sufficient only for two months," said Hadji Husein, Chief of the agency, to Tempo on Monday, June 29, 2015.
Bulog Director Wahyu Suparyono said that Indonesia has enough rice supply to fulfill the public’s needs for the next six months.
For the June to July period, Bulog has managed to provide two tons of additional rice supply in preparation for the upcoming El Nino tropical phenomenon.
