Finance Minister Blames Pelindo for Lengthy Dwelling Time

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said that the Customs and Excise Directorate General was not the main cause of the lengthy dwelling time at Tanjung Priok Port. According to Bambang, dwelling time was often hampered during the pre-clearance process.
"It was Pelindo or the port's authority," Bambang said at the Vice Presidential Office on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno refused to comment on the issue. According to Rini, her ministry is currently preparing a program to shorten the dwelling time as there is no single cause to the problem.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that he has investigated the cause of lengthy dwelling time at Tanjung Priok Port. Jokowi also revealed that he would remove several officials in relation to the issue.
"The president would not hesitate to replace the relevant officials, whether they are at the SOE or Echelon levels," cabinet secretary Andi Widjajanto said.
