Anti-Graft Coalition Holds Seminar to Search for Ideal KPK Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anti-corruption Civil Society Coalition held a seminar and group discussion called "Seeking the ideal Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chief Figure" in Makassar on Tuesday, June 16.
Deputy chief of Anti-Corruption Committee South Sulawesi Kadir Wokanubun said the speaker in the seminar are non-active KPK deputy chief Bambang Widjajanto; KPK Candidate Selection Committee Diana Sadiawati; and Bosowa 45 University Law Professor Marwan Mas. “They have confirmed their presence,” Kadir said Tuesday morning, June 16.
Kadir said one of the purpose of the seminar is to give suggestions to the Candidate Selection Committee. According to Kadir, society’s trust in KPK is extremely highly and that there are no other public institution that are well appreciated and supported by the society like KPK.
Kadir says KPK have been highly supported for its firmness and results in the eradication of corruption that is not selective and indiscriminate and has often come under fire. There were also attempts to destroy and weakened KPK. “KPK chief should be able to maintain the institution’s authority of the law,” said Kadir.
Members of the Anticorruption Civil Society Coalition that are joining the discussion includes the Indonesian Corruption Watch and Transparency International Indonesia along with a number of anticorruption institutions in South Sulawesi.
