TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To mark the 2015 World Environment Day that fell on June 5, Environment and Forestry Ministry (KLHK) gave out awards to 122 wild life conservationists who had saved the Yellow-crested cockatoo, Antara news reported. The awards were handed over by Environment Minister Siti Nurbaya at Balai Kartini, South Jakarta on Friday.
The awarding night was also attended by former environment ministers, Sarwono Kusumaatmadja and Rachmat Witoelar.
The peak of the 2015 World Environment Day was held in Bogor Palace and led by President Joko Widodo. In the occasion, awards were also given to individuals, communities and local government representatives for their achievemnts in conserving the environment.
Variety of events to commemorate the 2015 World Environment Day are set to be held such as Environment Week, eco-rally driving, and many more.
