Lippo Group Builds 20 Hospitals in Myanmar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lippo Group plans to construct 20 international-standard hospitals in Myanmar. The project is predicted to be completed in 2018. Lippo Group CEO James T. Riady said that initially, the company had only planned to build 12 hospitals. "We planned to build 12 hospitals in the next two or three years. But I think there will be 20 hospitals instead," James said during his visit to the Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital in Rangoon, Friday, June 5, 2015.
The company cooperated with Serge Pun & Associates Group (SPA Group) for the initial stage of the project. SPA Group is company owned by a Myanmar business tycoon Serge Pun. Both Lippo and SPA Group will establish a joint venture company to build the Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital, which serves as a pilot project.
The Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital was claimed to have the best service in the field of neurosurgery with a total of 174 beds.
Serge Pun said that the Pun Hlaing Siloam Hospital will mark the transformation of hospitals in Myanmar.
