TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The work of Japanese artist Yoko Ono will be exhibited in the 8th Art Jog art exchange. The event will be held in Taman Budaya Yogyakarta from June 6 to 28, 2015.
Art Jog director Satriagama Rakantaseta said one of the reasons that the organizer chose to showcase Ono's work is because she pioneered the Fluxus art movement back in the swinging sixties. Fluxus is an international network of artists, composers and designers noted for blending different artistic media and disciplines in the 1960s. It is sometimes described as intermedia.
Fluxus is this year's Art Jog main theme, dubbed 'Infinity in Flux: The Unending Loop Bond that the Artist and the Audience'.
"(Fluxus is) infinite art," he said, yesterday.
The organizer will display two of Ono's installation art works: the Wish Tree (1981) and Sky TV (1966).
They will also showcase Ono's artifacts including black-and-white photography works, a compact disc of The Plastic Ono Band, as well as artifacts from her prior work packed into a glass box.
Ono's work will be the event's special presentation. Unfortunately, the artist who is also famous for being the second wife of one fourth of The Beatles, the late John Lennon, will not be attending this year's Art Jog.
The event also invites 86 artists from various countries, displaying 103 artworks. "All of these are art works that visitors can interact with, Satriagama said.
