A Girly Afternoon Tea

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Feeling like having a good, girly tea-time? The Cafe at Mulia Hotel Senayan is one of the optiions. Enjoying cups of tea at a currently-hip places and uploading the photos of the tea time to Path or Instagram is indeed trending these days, and The Cafe is just right to enjoy the afternoon tea.

The Cafe, which is located inside the four-starred hotel in Central Jakarta, offers feminine, elegant and warm interior. The girlie impression can be seen from the rows of fresh flowers arranged in one side of the room and on the guest’s tables. Buckets of roses, lily, and hortensia successfully bring smile on our hearts and eyes. They also become sweet decoration among domination of glasses and white furnitures. At a glance, the decoration looks like the one in Amber, a cafe in Senopati area, South Jakarta.

The colorful flowers looked more prominent when combined with the elegant Victorian-styled furniture.

“Because the design is so pretty, our guests are mostly women with their acquaintances,” said Chantya Arentina, the Assitant to Mulia Hotel’s Communication Manager, as written by Koran Tempo on Friday, May 29.

We booked The Cafe’s afternoon tea package with options of peppermint, chamomile, English breakfast, and earl grey tea. It is indeed minimalist, especially if compared to a tea room like the ones offered at TWG Tea Salon and Boutique at Plaza Senayan which is rich of menus.

There are two sets of afternoon tea packages available, namely Indonesian and classic sets. Indonesian set is a package offered with Indonesian traditional snacks such as kue lapis, kroket, asinan Bogor and gado-gado. Don’t worry, the gado-gado is served in mini portion so that it won’t take over the tea’s position on your photos.

In the classic afternoon tea package, macaroon, toast with kaviar jam and sashimi are served. Both packages are presented inside a pretty wooden bird cage colored in white and brown.

“Menu visitors take pictures because they are attracted to our afternoon tea presentation,” Chantya explained proud.

The primadona of that afternoon girlie tea time was the cheesecake, the cake of the month at The Cafe. The cheesecake is available in five flavor variants wrapped in cute pastel. The flavors are vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, mango, and pistachio. Among the five, pistachio has the humblest sweetness level with a not-too-creamy texture that it becomes my favorite. However, other flavors would equally enjoyable for the tastebud. Sweet, just like the buckets of fresh orange roses on The Cafe’s tables.
