TEMPO.CO, Seoul - Two South Korean citizens were reported dead after being infected with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus. The two victims were said to have contracted the disease after being treated in the same ward with a MERS-infected individual last May.
The South Korean Health Ministry said that the two victims a 58-years old female and a 71-years old male died after experiencing a respiratory failure. The South Korean government said that the deaths had increased the number of MERS-infected person in the country to 25 cases.
One of the victims had recently visited Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. The government planned to issue travel warning following a recent isolation of 700 individuals in an effort to prevent the virus from spreading.
