Three Foreign Countries Eye West Sumatra`s Geothermal Energy

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hungary, Bulgaria and Finland have expressed their interest in geothermal energy investment in West Sumatra. Ambassadors of the three countries pitched the investment plan to West Sumatera governor Irwan Prayitno on Saturday, May 30, 2015, during a diplomatic tour in West Sumatra.
“They are interested in renewable energy investment. We will meet them to follow up the plan,” Irwan said.
According to Irwan, representatives of the three countries will observe 20 locations with geothermal potential, including in Pasaman. Suprime Energi currently operates in Sough Solok area.
Irwan promised that he will provide foreign investors with incentives, including easing the licensing process at a one-stop integrated service (PTSP).
Since Friday, May 29, 2015, a total of 16 ambassadors and a number of diplomats from 24 countries have participated in a diplomatic tour in West Sumatera. Al Busyara Basnur, the director of public diplomacy at the Foreign Affairs Ministry said that the occasion would be a good opportunity for regional heads to promote potentials in their regions to investors.
