TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Recent corruption allegation that haunted FIFA President Joseph Blatter seemed to have no effect on the number of support he had received to be re-elected as FIFA President. Several countries that had declared their support include, Central America, The Caribbean, and South America.
Blatter also received supports from the Confederation of African Footbal (CAF). The CAF stated that they did not agree with the decision to postpone FIFA President election and planned to re-elect Blatter. The Asian Football Confederation also channeled their support for Blatter and was not concerned over the corruption scandal that had occurred.
Supposedly, 209 members of FIFA will elect a new president after seven of the organization's official were arrested for an alleged corruption by the United States Attorney General. Two candidates fighting for the top position in the organization are Joseph Blatter and Prince Ali bin al-Hussein.
