TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The House of Representatives' (DPR) honor tribunal will hold the first hearing over the case of academic title forgery implicating Frans Agung Mula Putra, a member of the House’s commission overseeing government affairs from the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura), on Wednesday, May 28, 2015. The House’s honor tribunal will hear an explanation from Frans over a report filed by his former personal assistant.
“We have received the report a while ago. We will discuss it tomorrow at 13.00, West Indonesia time,” Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the deputy chairman of the House’s honor tribunal, told Tempo on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
Earlier, Frans’ former personal secretary Denty Noviany Sari reported her ex-boss to the House’s honor tribunal for her wrongful termination. Denty also reported Frans the she was assigned to put fake doctorate title on Frans’ business cards.
The House’s tribunal will probe Frans and Denty as witnesses to determine the punishment for France.
“We can’t say that [the title] is a fake if it has yet to be made a case,” Dasco said, adding that the honor tribunal will impose a sanction on Frans if the allegations prove true.
Hanura Party Faction chairman Dossy Iskandar claimed that he was not aware that a member of his faction at the House of Representatives had forged his academic title on his business cards. Dossy admitted that he knew Frans was pursuing his doctorate degree.
“I’m not sure about his [academic title]. But I know that he’s currently studying for his doctorate. I didn’t ask whether he has finished it,” Dossy said.
