TEMPO.CO, Banda Aceh – Banda Aceh Police have discovered 29 hectares of marijuana plantations and destroyed most of the plants in the locations.
“We found five spots,” Aceh Besar Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Heru Novianto told Tempo on Tuesday.
Heru said the police destroyed the plants on Sunday, May 24, 2015 by involving 87 police personnel and locals. He added a few days before the demolition took place police personnel had been stationed in the plantations, which were located on the slopes of Glee Dua mountainous area, Meurah Kamukiman Lemteuba village, Seulimeum district, Aceh Besar.
Heru said some of the plantations were set for harvest, while the other had either just been planted or harvested. “We didn’t find any resident or land owner in the locations,” he said.
Heru said the plantations, which police discovered on reports by locals, were the largest the police had found in the regency this year.
