TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said the government will not hesitate to use force if landowners affected by the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) development project insist on keeping their land.
According to Ahok, the step was in accordance with the laws governing that land that can not be moved and is required for public interest, then the local government has the right to take over. “Landowner could not move their land right,” Ahok told Tempo on Monday, May 25.
Ahok is confident that he could free all lands for the MRT development this year and is not concerned about the people that do not want to handover their land. From a consignment through court, society will obey, he said.
Ahok explains that the provincial government of Jakarta had previously agreed to the use of price appraisal or the estimated price of propertyappraiser. This option is chosen because the government and landowners could not reach a price agreement.
However, the appraisal price would not be accepted by society. “So we proceed it through court in order to accelerate the process,” said Ahok. Aside from that, he says, we will use force.
PT MRT Construction Director Muhammad Nasyir was terrified because the MRT land could not be freed and said that the land that is most urgent to free is the Lebak Bulus-Sisingamangaraja route. The land is located in T.B. Simatupang Street and Cipete Ray Street which will be developed for Fatmawati and Cipete Raya station.
