TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" has officially established `Lenggang Jakarta` in National Monument (Monas) Park, a venue specified to host street vendors. “Vendors from outside of Monas will be kicked out,” said Ahok.
There are in total 339 vendors in Lenggang Jakarta, 329 of which have been verified and trained. Ahok claimed that they have been carefully selected and trained.
Lenggang Jakarta is an attempt to put order in Monas, especially towards street vendor. Jakarta City Administration always failed taking control of street vendor management in Monas, causing the place to look disorganized.
The venue will also be equipped with e-money system, in which non-cash transaction is claimed to help monitor vendor’s profit. "Therefore, I can help provide good startup capital for them. I can give up to Rp1 trillion,” he said.
