Minister Tjahjo Urges Police, BIN to Probe Plastic Rice Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said that the plastic rice smuggler has a political motive to sabotage the nation. Therefore, he has urged Indonesian Police and National Intelligence Agency (BIN) to investigate the case.
"We trust that BIN and the police can solve this case," said Tjahjo on Sunday, May 24.
Tjahjo said that Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel and Logistics Agency have stopped importing rice since January 2015. Therefore, he can assure that the rice was not smuggled.
"It is time that that the government manage rice and import better," he said.
Previously, the government saw a distribution of plastic rice. Lab test revealed that the rice sample contains three plastic compounds namely BBP (benzyl butyl phthalate), DEHP (bis (2-ethylhexyl phthalate), and DINP (diisononyl phthalate).
