TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US Ambassador to Indonesia Robert Blake said that the United States put an interest in supporting projects to be implemented by President Joko Widodo, including transportation projects (locomotive train and airplanes) and 35,000 megawatt power plant.
"We’re keen on participating in those projects,” said Blake in Jakarta on Friday.
According to Blake, both governments have had a serious discussion on the issue.
In the transportation sector, Blake said that the US would be involved in the locomotive train projects. He said that General Electric, an American locomotive company would sell its products to Indonesian state-owned railway operator PT KAI.
Blake further said that the US would work with Indonesia to improve safety and security in Indonesia. He also said that he has met with Indonesian Transpiration Minister Ignatius Jonan to discuss the matter.
As for the 35,000-megawatt power plant, he said that the US would also be involved in the project. However, Blake declined to elaborate on the investment plans.
"President Joko Widodo and President Obama will announce it later on,” he concluded.
