TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - FIFA has cancelled the meeting with the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) Transition Team. The decision was conveyed by FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke in his responding letter to the Secretary for the Youth and Sport Minister, Alfitra Salamm on Friday, May 22.
In his letter, Valcke said that FIFA regrettably had to cancel the meeting due to the short notice and considering that the meeting will be coinciding with the FIFA Congress. Valcke also reminded the team about FIFA’s correspondence to PSSI dated May 4 informing that if actions taken by the Sport Ministry not be withdrawn by May 29, then it will be referred to the appropriate FIFA body for an immediate suspension.
In the end of his letter, Valcke said that the soccer governing body will analyze all correspondence to be taken into account in making decision should the situation remain unchanged by the set deadline.
The Transition Team had planned to meet with FIFA to explain about current condition of Indonesian football, and to discuss the continuation of the currently suspended football competition.
