TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Relocation of Ciliwung River residents in Pinangsia and Ancol conducted by Jakarta Provincial Government is purposely for anticipating flood problem in the capital.
The government asked people not to worry as they will prepare the flat first before demolishing the residents' homes.
"The government has no intention to pester the people, but the government will also educate unruly residents. If we demolish your homes which are erected on the land that is not yours, we will provide relocation places," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat, to the representative of Ciliwung River residents, Pinangsia and Ancol at City Hall, Friday.
Djarot then asked residents not to prostest. He promised that he will observe the construction himself in the near future.
