Public Will Welcome Pertalite: Expert

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Agus Tony Poputra, an economist with Sam Ratulangi University, said the public would welcome Pertalite gasoline so long as its quality was better than Premium's.
“The people will accept Pertalite if its quality is better than Premium's,” he said in Manado on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Besides quality, he added, the government must also pay attention to the implementation of the subsidies for Pertalite.
“I think there should be some particular implementation scheme of subsidies for Pertalite because its price will be much higher than Premium’s,” he said.
It is known that oil-exporting countries have ceased producing the RON 88 gasoline, locally known as Premium, and shifted to RON 90, which has better quality, instead—forcing state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina to spend more on it.
Pertamina is presently gearing up to launch Pertalite gasoline in a string of major cities in the country, with the first ones including Jakarta, Semarang and Surabaya.
