TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bandung Mayor Ridwan "Emil" Kamil said that Bandung has been elected as one of the green cities by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, the OECD held a meeting between representatives of green cities at the Bandung City Hall.
"The meeting will be developed into the international green city network. To be included in the network is not easy," Emil told journalists on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Emil added that the discussion to find solutions to the problems related to realizing the green city will last for five years until 2020. All representatives of the green cities will have to come up with five major issues related to the green city during a two-day workshop in Bandung. The forum will then arrange an agreement to resolve the issues that will be collectively enforced.
"Hopefully we can figure out the issues within two days," Emil said.
Emil hoped that the forum will help Bandung to realize the concept of green city by accelerating government programs conceived in the discussion. Currently the Bandung administration is striving to add more green spaces by building parks, such as music, film and superhero-themed parks.
