TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi claimed that he has not received any warnings from the World Football Federation (FIFA), citing sanction against Indonesia. Imam vowed that he will immediately respond to the letter.
“I have not read the letter. We will learn it first once it gets here,” said Imam on Tuesday, May 5.
Previously, FIFA threatened to impose sanction against Indonesia if the minister refused to revoke its ban over Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). FIFA, in its letter, claimed that PSSI must be independent without posing outside interest.
FIFA cited that it will perform assertive measures if the minister fails to respond by May 29. Imam, on the other hand, said that FIFA had not taken a full look on all aspects, before making the call. The minister added that he will respond the letter and send a team to explain the matter to FIFA.
“FIFA needs also to listen to us,” said Imam.
