TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Presidential Chief of Staff Luhut Binsar Panjaitan was also subject to the impending cabinet shakeup, and that Luhut as the evaluator of the ministers’ performance would not be exempt from reshuffle considerations.
“Anyone who is installed by the president can be replaced by the president,” Kalla said at JS Luwansa Hotel on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. “That’s the formula.”
Kalla, however, stopped short of revealing the exact time the cabinet reshuffle would be announced, while dismissing speculations that it would take place post-Idul Fitri, after July 2015. “Not yet, just wait for it, be patient,” he said.
The sure thing is, Kalla added, a reshuffle was necessary to boost the government’s performance. “The pivotal point is to improve the government’s performance, that’s the important thing,” he said.
Earlier, State Secretary Pratikno said President Joko Widodo had never discussed the reshuffle with him, and that the president was tight-lipped about this matter. “Just leave it, ask me other things,” he said yesterday.
