TEMPO.CO, Kupang – East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Frans Lebu Raya said his government had allotted funds amounting to Rp144.9 billion for nine regencies in the province that would organize simultaneous elections on December 9, 2015.
“We have earmarked the funds for the simultaneous elections in nine regencies,” Frans said in the province’s capital of Kupang on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
The funds comprise Rp22.3 billion for Malaka regency, Rp19 billion for Belu regency, Rp14.1 billion for Manggarai regency, Rp27.1 billion for East Sumba regency, Rp14.6 billion for West Manggarai regency, Rp22.6 billion for North Timor Tengah regency, Rp10 billion for West Sumba regency. Rp7.6 billion for Sabu Raijua regency and Rp12.5 billion for Ngada regency.
The money for Sabu Raijua and Ngada regencies, however, has yet to include funds for the Elections Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu) and the required security.
NTT General Elections Commission (KPU) spokesperson Maryanti Luturmas Adoe said six of the nine regencies had yet to transfer the funds to the KPU, and that not all of them had signed the agreement on the funds management.
The six regencies are Malaka, Belu, Manggarai, West Manggarai, North Timor Tengah and West Sumba. “The ones that have are Sabu Raijua, East Sumba and Ngada,” she said, adding that the funds for the province’s regional elections had already been included in the regencies’ budget.
