TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) claimed that it has increase security level at airports in the Eastern part of Indonesia. Insp. Gen. Deddy Fauzi Elhakim, Deputy of Drug Eradication of BNN, said that drug dealers started to turn their attention to Eastern Indonesia as an entry point because security in airports in Western Indonesia have becoming more and more heavy.
Deddy said that dealers often use smaller, unprotected, airfields as an entry point. Deddy claimed that some smugglers even disguised themselves as missionary. "Frankly, it's a horrifying method," Deddy said.
The smugglers, Deddy added, also enter Indonesia by means of sea transportation. Drug dealers never hesitate to construct themselves a small port on an isolated beach to drop off their goods, which later transported by land to various regions "For them, the most important thing is to get the drugs to Indonesia, undetected," Deddy said.
