TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno said the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) would hold a meeting to evaluate the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in a bid to find solution to the heated conflict between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Polri.
"Kompolnas asked to meet with me today to discuss this problem," said Tedjo on Monday. "We will evaluate as best as we can so that the conflict between KPK and Polri will stop."
Tedjo, however, stopped short of pinpointing the location of the meeting its participants. "The most important thing is that this meeting will hopefully result in the right formula to end the conflict between the KPK and Polri," he said.
He added he was soliciting ideas and suggestions from various parties to reform the police, among them was by possibly revising the Police Law. "We still have to review this," he said.
Tedjo said the Political, Legal and Security Affairs Ministry will position the problem in the right place, including discussing the proposal that Polri should be under a related ministry.
