TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration has planned to develop Tambaklorok village, Central Java, to be a maritime-based village.
“The village has the potential to be a maritime-based village. It’s related to the development of Tanjung Emas Port,” M. Farchan, the head of development planning at the Semarang City Development Planning Agency, said on Sunday, May 3, 2015.
According to Farchan, the government has earmarked Rp300 billion (US$23 million) for the program to be set in motion in a multiyear scheme. The development of the maritime-based village was aimed at anticipating the impact of development growth on the farmers.
Farchan believes that the development of the village would provide an added value for the people and the government since the concept was to integrate the society, the housing system and the local livelihood.
Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi said the development of Tambaklorok village is aimed at promoting the maritime-based tourism in the area.
“The people must prepare to welcome tourists,” Hendrar said.
