TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of permits for oil and gas sector business, particularly those to be applied to the Oil and Gas Directorate General of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM), has been reduced from 104 to 42 permits.
I.G.N. Wiraatmaja, the director general for oil and gas, said that the permit simplification was aimed at providing fast, simple and transparent services for investors.
“The government wants to facilitate investors at oil and gas upstream and downstream industries to run their businesses,” Wiraatmaja said in a press release on Saturday, May 02, 2015.
Wiraatmaja said the permit simplification was not the first time, as before 2012, there were 104 types of permits needed to be applied by investors. In 2012, the number of permits was reduced to 51.
All 42 permits are now can be applied at the one-stop integrated service (PTSP) at the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
“We will assign officers at the BKPM to serve investors and conduct evaluation,” Wiraatmaja added.
The evaluation is aimed at sorting specific permits that need to be handled further at the Oil and Gas Directorate General. Meanwhile, the PTSP is specifically assigned to handle general permits. The mechanism, Wiraatmaja explained, is aimed to reduce direct contact between investors and oil and gas directorate staff.
