TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 1,229 households in five hamlets in Jagaraga village, Kediri district in West Lombok regency were displaced after floods hit their hamlets.
Heavy rain hit Western Lombok since Saturday.
Spokesperson of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the floods happened after water in the rivers around Mataram overflew.
“Five hamlets were inundated by a floodwater of up to 1.5 meter. Eight houses collapsed and 100 hectares of paddy fields were inundated,” Sutopo told Tempo on Saturday evening.
He also said that the affected hamlets include Timur Raya hamlet (200 households), Timur Raya Utara hamlet (205 households), Batu Tumpeng Satu hamlet (267 households), Batu Tumpeng Dua hamlet (257 households) and Karang Anyar hamlet (300 households).
Sutopo further said that as of now, the West Nusa Tenggara BNPB is still handling the displaced residents.
