TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor is known to have varied architecture styles on its buildings. This phenomenon is adapted into the front canopy, lobby, and restaurant of The 101 Bogor Hotel Suryakencana.

The front canopy is designed similar with  Dutch colonial architecture, except that the size is bigger. The size makes pillars supporting the canopy look sturdy and elegant. A narrow hallway connects the canopy to the main building.

In this hallway, Chinese architecture is seen on the left and right side with pool home to koi fish. Koi fish is believed to bring luck for its owners. To make it more impressive, iron nets are installed on the hallway roof.

Arriving at the lobby, window blinds are seen on some corners of the building. It is dominated with white paints typical to old buildings. The window blinds are also found in the Djoeragan Resto and Lounge of the hotel.

The restaurant is located right next to the lobby. Aside from the colonial architecture, elements of Chinese culture are also appeared in the restaurants’ furnitures. Uniquely, Sundanese culture are also seen on small decoration and appliances such as angklung, candle holders shaped like cobek (traditional mortar) and clay furnace used to keep the food warm.

Meeting rooms are also named with names that are familiars to Sundanese such as Tirta, Rangga Gading, Lawang Seketeng, Gedong Dalem and Pedati.

“This kind of unique culture assimilation concept is what we feel fit to our targeted customers, which is from the premium middle class,” said General Manager of The 101 Bogor Suryakancana, Willy Suderes.

However, an elegant modern touch can still be found on the light brown paint on the hotel’s facade which is combined with white paint.
