TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Beecy Bikes & beans on Jalan Raya Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta, is a cafe that presents Beecy Trilogy: bike, coffee and culinary. Beecy is indeed aiming for the cyclists who likes to ride on a bike from cafe to cafe or to restaurants together with their cycling community.
The cafe is uniquely decorated with rare bikes such as the foldable Dahon’s The Hon Solo that is displayed under the stair. This bike has a fender made of wood. At the second floor, a Brompton M coated in 22-carat gold becomes visitor’s favorite.
Peugeot’s Cadre Allege made in 1978 is also displayed at the second floor. According to Mada Mubina, the initiator and Founder of Beecy Bike & beans, the bikes are there to attract guests into bicycling lifestyle in addition to be displayed as decoration.
I ordered a cappuccino that day and the taste of local arabica coffee knocked out at the very first sip of it.
“We only pick Indonesian arabica coffee such as the ones from Gayo, Mandailing, Toraja, Papua, Solok, Java Raung, Jampit, Petung, Flores Bajawa, Pengalengan, Garut and Sunda Gulali,” said Mada.
I also ordered the aglio olio for the companion of the coffee at the price of Rp35,000. The meal, which is a member of the pasta family, is cooked along with slices of smoked beef, garlic, chili pepper and basil leaves. The hot flavor is so refreshing although you can opt to have the not-hot flavor.
There is also the brooks grilled chicken. With Rp35,000 for the dish, you will have rice, grilled chicken with barbecue sauce plus dices of tomatoes and cucumbers. The chicken meat is real tender.
The ubud chicken rice can also be an alternative, also for the price of Rp35,000. It is similar to brooks grilled chicken but without barbecue sauce. The chicken meat in the dish is sprinkled with slices of red chili pepper, tomatoes, garlic, and shallots.
Bikes, coffee and culinary have made up the concept of the cafe that was first opened on October 10, 2014.
“Some cyclists are even always stop by the coffee shops along their route just to have a caffeine stop,” said Mada who is also the Chairman of Indonesia Folding Bike.
“More complete with the bike reparation and modification service.”
